[He's closed himself off. He thought it might help -- slow your surroundings to a standstill, and maybe everything going on inside would learn to slow as well. When he got control over himself, he could control this stupid magic of his that was given to him. He thought he'd be happy, getting back the gifts he was born into, but even with them, the storm inside had been roaring enough to keep him up night after night.
Which meant he'd been even more cut off than he'd intended.]
I can't sleep. I need to. Tell me...what to do.
[Simple as that. Just help him rest, please...]

I don't care.
[He doesn't feel bad letting Emil know that since he just wasted his time and also they aren't friends and never would be.]
If you know the names of the teas, make a list. I guess I can look for blankets. I don't know where...
[Blankets were just always in blankety places?]

Well, there's...tea. ( He vaguely knows there may be different types but fuck if he remembers what they are. ) I'll look around the marketplace to see if they have different kinds?
( Oh that also gives him another idea, since he essentially lives there. ) There are a lot of blankets in the suites. I think I could give them to you and the lizards here wouldn't mind.

The suites...?
[That didn't quite...sound like what he'd caught from little bits and pieces of conversation as he passed by. The weird coven people were staying somewhere else, weren't they?]
no subject
Oh, there are small rooms you can stay in in the big market area. They have better beds and more personal space than that horrible, cramped house everyone else is content with staying in.
( Having a room and bed of his own, even if the bed is lizard-sized > sharing a room with five other people and having to sleep on the ground. )
no subject
Oh. That's...okay.
[As in "allowable"? He's still honestly fumbling with suites/sweets/gingerbread house]
If it doesn't get you -- or me -- in trouble, that should be fine. I can get them later.

They keep trying to give me everything under the sun so I'm sure no one will miss them. ( The Palai enabling Emil into doing whatever he wants is dangerous. ) If you want anything else I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help.
( This brings up a point of interest, though, and it feels sort of weird to have to ask but... )
So where are you staying? In the big house? ( Please love yourself and say "no." )
no subject
I don't need anything.
[...aside from the list of shit he says he needs.]
No? I told you, I'm not sleeping.
[Why would he need a place to stay? 8)]
no subject
It frustrates Emil a bit because he's absolutely sure he didn't say anything about sleeping. )
I know you can't sleep -- are you just wandering around all day long? You have to stop sometime, don't you? ( If not to sleep but to rest his legs and sit still for a second. )
no subject
I eat, I guess. I go places. And I scout. I don't wander.
no subject
I know you can't sleep, but you should at least rest. All that walking has to hurt your legs eventually. ( At least, the thought of walking around for an entire day makes his knees hurt from the idea. )
no subject
Lalli huffs angrily, but manages to keep most of his irritation out of the mental connection. He's still very clearly Not Pleased with how Emil is treating him, for...some reason.]
I'm not an idiot, I sit down. Just...stop. It's not a problem and it's really not your problem.
no subject
Why do you keep getting mad at me? I didn't do anything wrong!
( There's some friendship speech about Your Problems Are My Problems and an assurance that he thinks Lalli is bizarre but not an idiot, but neither of these are at the forefront of his mind right now.
It's all the more frustrating when he does what he thinks is right but never seems to be rewarded except for maybe a few back and forths before more attitude comes out. )
I'm trying.

...
[Okay. He can work with this. Just take a breath -- ]
You didn't do anything wrong. [theeere we go] You didn't do anything.
[what Lalli no, what about the breath]
