Hello everyone, this is Genette.

I'll be receiving some of the answers to your questions today. I'll be sending them as a blanket message to everyone.

Again, I'm a messenger. You're free to ask follow up questions, but make sure they're sent directly to me.

[ not only had jude gotten sick wandering around in the storm, but his shack has been totally destroyed. for the time being, he's going to be staying with 9s and 2b at their place. it should be more comfortable there, anyway.

but for right now... he's more focused on qui than anything else. there's a pinched, trouble expression on his face, eyes narrowed. ]

I'm... frustrated.

It's not that I think she's lying, but is there a valid reason she has to be so elusive? Is there a valid reason she took so long to answer these questions in the first place? Some of us have been here for months. I'd be more likely to take her a bit more seriously if she'd spoken up sooner, but I guess you're busy when you're picking and choosing people to spirit away.

[rebells]

[He tilts his head at Jude, mouth twitching a little. It's almost comforting to see someone else be visibly frustrated at the situation.]

Don't hold back, now.

Perhaps that should be one of our next questions to her. "Why not just answer our questions through Genette? Do you have a reason for being vague?"

[talim]

It'd be a good question to ask until you realize it will probably take her a good six months to answer it.

[ yes. jude is. frustrated. ]

[rebells]

Complaining won't change anything, you know.

[With a small smile playing around his mouth:] Well, unless you do it to Qri herself, maybe. Directly and repeatedly.

[talim]

I know, I know. Sorry, I know I'm throwing a bit of a tantrum. It's just...

[ he throws his hands up. ]

Didn't you say that's exactly what you'd been doing? For months? With no response?

[rebells]

I wouldn't say I was complaining. Just talking to her, although I may have gotten a little pointed. And it took about six weeks for her to respond through Genette.

[Matter-of-factly, laying out the data.]

At any rate, maybe she has a valid reason for being vague, and maybe she doesn't. What we should concentrate on for now is deciding our own course of action. What do we want most from her, and how far are we willing to go to get that?

[talim]

Figuring all that out is the hard part.

[ he hangs his head. ]

You heard her. I mean, she said we could be here for potentially years. I can't even wrap my head around that, let alone what I want to happen next.

[rebells]

[He's not unsympathetic, precisely. But:]

I suggest you try.

[talim]

Well? What about you? Since you seem to have it all figured out... What do you want most?

[rebells]

[What he wants most? What he wants is to be able to fix the situation on the Legacy--to be free of Solon--which he's beginning to suspect may be easier if he cooperates with Qri. But that's not an answer he's prepared to give Jude, and it's probably not the sort of answer he was looking for anyway.]

. . . I want to know the truth of the situation. What Qri's intentions are, and whether they're the same as what she says they are. The only way I can think of to do that, for the moment, is to keep asking her questions. To find out what kind of person she is by hearing what she has to say.

[talim]

No matter how many questions she does or doesn't answer, I have a feeling we might never know what kind of person Qri is. For all our sakes, I hope I'm wrong.

But I admire your perseverance. I mean that.

[rebells]

[He smiles thinly.]

I'm an information-dealer. I make it my business to know things. I won't consider myself outmatched that easily.

Are you giving up already, Jude?

[talim]

No!

[ he replies a little too quickly, but the thought of giving up is not a thought jude is familiar with. on most occasions, at least. ]

No. Not a chance. I just... needed some time to process, I guess. I'll never give up on figuring out the truth behind all this.

[rebells]

Hmm.

[He doesn't smile, but he looks satisfied.]

That's better. Moping around doesn't suit an idiot like you, you know.

[talim]

Coming from you, I'll take that as a compliment.

[rebells]

[He snorts, but doesn't deny it.]

I'd be thinking about how you think we should approach Qri when we next talk to her, and what questions you most want answered. That's something we're going to have to decide soon.

[talim]

In that case, I'll take your advice and do some thinking. Hopefully the lot of us will be able to use the opportunity to our advantage and get something out of it.
