[ unfortunately, this wholly accidental broadcast of thoughts isn't a very pleasant one. around midday, while the interrogations are still taking place, the sounds of a young girl's sobs are transmitted through the signet's telepathy. those who have interacted with ruby are likely to recognize her voice, but you don't need to know that much to understand that something bad has happened. ]

I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to tell...
 
[ the apology is repeated intermittently between her sobs. she doesn't seem to be very consolable... with what's been going on today, it might be obvious as to what she's talking about. for roommates, the door to the room that she's being interrogated in bursts open as her outward sobs can be heard, but only the monitor seems to be visibly there.  ]

[ it's a quiet sort of wail - one that wishes that dia could embrace her and gently calm her down like she always did. unfortunately, her voice will have to do. ]

I'm not hurt, but... but...

[ her voice cracks. ]

[She knows her younger sister and she knows that Ruby would never endanger the coven or anyone on purpose.]

[ this would probably be better if dia were physically with her, but that unfortunately isn't possible. it makes ruby all near inconsolable - she'll likely keep crying until there's nothing left. ]

If I could control my magic better, everything would be okay...

[ For a long while, Riko could only hear the other girl's sobbing, which was heartbreaking enough. Riko's not sure if she's supposed to talk to her right now, but when Ruby finally speaks up, she can't just sit here in silence. ]

Ruby-chan...we know you didn't mean to do that. Don't cry...

[ Although the questioning was stressful for her as well, she can only imagine what Ruby has been through. And that it might not be as easy for her to stop crying. ]

We were supposed to keep it a secret... And now everyone will get in trouble...!

[ sorry, riko. she's a little too upset to be calmed down by just a friendly voice, even if it's one that she holds dear. it's probably logical to assume that she isn't the only one in the coven that slipped up, but rational thought isn't really her strong suit. ]

[ Honestly, Riko can't blame her for not being able to think rationally—she's upset herself about the questioning and the things she has said. It's not like Riko told them about magic, but on the other hand, she doesn't really think that the monitor believed her any word. ]

Ruby-chan, whatever happens, it won't be your fault. Just remember that, okay? I'm sure they didn't believe some of us, myself included. Cheer up, okay?

[ It's not going to help much probably, but Riko draws a a tiny, smiling Ruby and shows her the image via telepathy network. ]

But...

[ she sniffles, but she can't reasonably stay that upset when riko is trying so hard to cheer her up. she perks up a bit when she sees the drawing, her lips quivering into a smile. ]

[ oh boy, time to damage control as a present roommate! it's not surprising someone would break though, and especially not the sensitive ruby ]

[ of course, jun's going to try and not give any indication he's truly heard her thoughts to the monitor. his attempt at calming her down is also somewhat stilted, partly due to that fact. ]

while she had phased into view for a moment, she's back to being invisible while her sobs echo through the room. ]

I disappeared in front of him...!

[ her sobs aren't as loud now, but they're still plenty audible. she knows that she messed up, and there's going to be consequences. ]

Everyone will be in danger... Won't they?

[She's alarmed by anyone crying over the telepathic network but even more so when it sounds like someone (she perceives as) pretty young.]

What happened? Are you all right?

That man... I showed him my magic.

[ she knows she fucked up big time. she had done so well with keeping it controlled and private until now, but when he had cornered her into that room for interrogation, she panicked. ]

I'm really, really sorry...

Oh no! [She sounds concerned more than taken aback.] I'm so sorry. That must have been really hard on you. Don't worry. I know it wasn't your fault.

[She went through it too. Anyone would crack under that pressure. She was more fortunate. She was able to play dumb quite easily since she was still relatively new here. But for anyone else it must've been so much harder.]

I guess he really did question everyone. What could they be after, doing such an awful thing to us...

It wasn't? [ reactions ruby wasn't expecting: that. ] But everyone else was able to hide their powers... And I know we weren't supposed to tell anyone, but I did anyway.

[ she feels awful about it - at the end of the day, her skittishness gave her away. she's afraid for herself, but also for what this might mean for the coven. SHE DIDN'T WANT TO BE A SNITCH :( ]

My roommate said that they might think that we caused the explosion on Sunsu. But we didn't... right?

( Wow...this is devastating to listen to. Poor Ruby...she really is just a young girl and shouldn't be made to feel like the weight of all this is on her. )

[ she regrets every time that she used it now, even if it was only for a moment. it's her fault for not having more control of her abilities - for not being disciplined enough to do things on her own. ]

( This poor girl...it's hard for him to give absolute assurances since he has no idea what is going to happen, but a world that gives so much so freely can't dole out punishments that are too horrible...right? )

It's not as if you used it on purpose, did you? Sometimes it just happens -- it's hard to control at times.

If he didn't say anything to you when it happened, I doubt anything horrible will happen. I think they said magic use incurs a fine, that's all.

[ oh man, she feels like she's going to start crying harder. disappointing the coven as a whole is one thing, but people that she knows... that makes it worse. ]

You didn't do anything wrong. [ well, she kind of did but he doesn't want to make the poor girl more upset. ]

They manipulated you and took advantage of your fears. Locking us inside our apartments without warning was a tactic to scare people into talking, because people tend to talk when they're stressed - it happens all the time during police interrogations.

[Overhearing a young girl's sobs wasn't something that could easily be ignored for Nike. She'll listen to her words for as long as she can, wondering if she was going to add more until realizing it wasn't the case.]

[ the voice is meek and fairly quiet as is - she's trying her best to stop her sobbing out loud. that's an odd question, though... ]

[There will be a bit of a pause as Nike attempts to concentrate before adding.]
