It is the only way I can perform it, yes. I am not so magically adept, unlike my two youngest siblings.

I can make people freeze, or slow down. Only when they're really close. I haven't tested to see if I can do other things.

I see! I have seen similar magic in my world. It is very useful on the battlefield. It seems like it would be useful for making mischief as well. For example, you could freeze someone, and use that opportunity do as you please with them. You could hurt them, certainly, but you could also sweep them into your arms, tickle them, and all sorts of other things a lady need not mention so freely.
