Okay, so it’s showtime on blue fish person invasion in less than twenty-four hours. Those of you who went to the earlier meeting know the plan and can check in with me or Jay to clarify anything. This message is for the new group of people that Qri decided to summon only two days before a predicted attack, in a tactical move so genius it remains obscure even now. Plus for anyone who missed the last memo.

The Uvi are blue fish people from the ocean above. They’re going to attack and either abduct or kill our cool lizard bros the Palai. The Palai plan on hiding and don’t expect to get anywhere with this, but we’re going to be setting out lookouts to spot the Uvi coming in and ground teams to engage with the enemy and defend the Palai. Then we plan to send a recon team to pursue them back to their base.

Me and Jay [a brief telepathic image of them both for your identifying pleasure] are going to be in the coven house finalizing things today. We're there if you want a position or need more info.

Brie can summon them, and Dave Strider could draw you one that I'd make functional. There might be other methods, but I'm not aware of everyone's powers.

The Palai are prepared for this. It's Qri who made some strange choices.

Though is there a reason why the Uvi plan on attacking the Palai?

None that we know about. According to the Palai, they just do this regularly for no reason they know. The Palai have tried to talk to them in the past and gotten nowhere.

The Palai people live a very pacifist lifestyle. I don't think they have any a trace of malice within them. It's clear they're a very thoughtful and charitable bunch. This may be a first in a very long time I have sense such a pure bunch before.

[They may even be purer than her own country and way of living before being offered as a bride to another country.]

What's the plan? Do you have any information on these Uvi? Like weaknesses? Appearance? Expectations?

[Dirk agrees. The Palai are nice, if very weird.]

They look like this [he flashes a telepathic image] and from what we know, move through water. The Palai said they usually come in at about two hundred at a time. The Uvi are said to be animalistic and hunt more like predators than armed forces. They use brute strength and weapons made from fish bones and teeth to force their way into residences. They don't seem to have strategies.

We know they target houses instead of marketplaces. The Palai explained that they stick to their houses anyway because they'll be easy targets if the Uvi change their hunting.

I'm in. I can fight and I'm an alchemist, so I can help with making basic weapons and defenses.

Can you make swords? This dude responded to me asking about them.

Metal structures defending the residences could help block off the Uvi. They don't look like they have advanced tech.

How do you even fight fish people? Won't they just rain on you some more?

Sorry, dude, this is exactly the kind of absurd you're walking into.

We can handle fish rain as long as it doesn't involve killing Palai or abducting them back to the ocean above. They descend using their magic, which is a bitch, but it also means our lookouts can see them coming and tell our ground forces where they'll be landing.

It looks like there are a lot of people offering themselves up to join the fight, so if necessary — I'm a licensed doctor, with both textbook knowledge on first aid and healing magic. I'm fully prepared to help with anything on that end.

Maybe Qri thought you were all in serious need of back-up? There's a lot of things a group of extremely confused newcomers can do, after all!

Considering how often this apparently happens, did the Palai mention a reason why they don't fight back? Or why they don't invest in better defenses?

You're right. I was an idiot for underestimating the military strength of randomly gathered strangers with new powers and no idea what was going on.

Everything they've said indicates this is the best solution they've managed to work out to minimize casualties. They don't seem to have much hope in other possibilities.

I'm capable of melee combat if necessary, so I can defend myself. I'm also designed to work alone, so I don't require assistance.
