[Genette has provided everyone a portion of mirror, which they're free to do whatever they want to with it BUT the idea is that they introduce themselves to the telepathy network with a video feed, showcasing their face. Otherwise, the coven might just get an endless stream of grass, sand or hut wall.

[It's after all the evening activities that Yuuko decides to try out her mirror. It's somewhat similiar to what the Mokonas did. This just has the convenience of being a mirror so she can do her hair or makeup while talking to people. It's all very convenient.

She gently taps on the glass with her nails before winding her hair up into a nice bun. Something everyone can see how lucky for them~!]

I'll assume this thing is on. Yes~? Yes. My name is Yuuko Ichihara and I'm a witch. And I am more commonly known as The Space Time Witch. I hate to brag but in this particular case it seems necessary when I say I am somewhat knowledgeable about different worlds. I wouldn't say I'm an avid traveler myself but dozens have come to me and I have sent them off to the infinite worlds out there. I have an approximate knowledge of many things~

And while I can't say I know anything about this particular world or what's in store I am familiar enough with the process. I hope that many of you managed to get spirited with some friends but I imagine many were not so lucky. Some, like myself, must have come alone. And being on your own in a place you don't know can be a very lonely thing. From what I saw this evening many of you appear to be rather young... and I suppose I am rather tired of seeing children go through such difficult trials when there is no need for it.

Being as familiar as I am with the process I just want all you children to know that I'd be happy to offer guidance when I can. Rather unfortunately... I am bound by a very strict set of rules. I can't and am incapable of giving without getting. Think of me like a scale where I must constantly be in balance. Sometimes powerful magic creates powerful existences that must be operated at all times with checks and balances. This is easily rectifiable. We're in a wonderful new place full of treasures. A seashell, a feather, something unique it doesn't necessarily have to be valuable unless you want it to be.

A seashell for advice seems not only fair but close to highway robbery in my business. Of course this all sounds rather cold and I don't mean for it to be. I have just seen a lot of hurt travelers. Precious children that I couldn't help even if I wanted to... and I did! I'd like to take an active role not just because I am here but because I very much want to.

I don't have many wishes in my life. But if I had one here in this new venture we're on, it'd would be that all of you young ones are safe. And if I can help by just offering some advice like not eating weird crabs or meat and not drinking the water of a strange place then I will.

Seriously kids. Rule 101 of traveling. Don't drink the water. That one's for free.

[Waver at leaast listened to Yuuko's message and gave himself a moment to digest it before replying. It was interesting, really interesting, but the level of condescension set his teeth on edge. It reminded him of other magi from home, just swap out age for a family's generation.

He responded cautiously, mostly because he wanted to be sure what this witch was about, so he could stay away from her properly. On the mirror, he tilted his head.]

What kind of value does the seashell have for you, in the end?

[If she's as big a deal as all this implies, she maybe has a end goal for them.]

Mmmm. [She finishes up her hair and places a finger to her lips. It's a good question.] Well. It's not about how much the seashell is worth to me. It's about what it's worth to you. Some shell you just found probably doesn't mean a whole lot. It's a nice memory or maybe it's petty. It's something you can easily give away. That's how I feel about my knowledge. I have an abundance of it and I'd like to give it away. I just can't... Thus a seashell is a good trade because it's something we can both easily part with.

And you can do a lot with a seashell. All sorts of magicks and what have you. It's not useless and neither is my advice. That all balances out, you see!

[She is wordy, isn't she? Waver manages to not telegraph that thought across his face, and he shoves it aside so it doesn't slip out in this telepathy madness either.]

Interesting. [She's an armchair philosopher, now that Waver thinks about it.] What kind of magic would you do with a seashell? Or with many?

Seashells are mostly known for protective magic. You can string a bunch together and hang them over your windows and doors. That's a pretty simple and doable thing... it'll also be a nice decoration for my beach shack.

What is the mechanism that activates the magecraft though? Is it words, something in the string? [Wait. She just talked about exchanges.] Or a trade secret?

Eh? Not all magic is like that. A lot of it just stems on belief.

You know these shells are used for protection purposes. You believe they will protect you. You hang them up. They protect you.

Sometimes magic is just that simple and it all requires a strong belief that what you're trying to do will come to be. If you don't believe in it, what's the point?

[That sure is a lot of hair. Lalli definitely seems to be more focused on that than anything Yuuko is actually getting into, though he is actually listening. Magic was an important thing.]

...You talk too much. If you want to help people, learn to say stuff faster and without so many words. And what are you supposed to be eating and drinking?

[Well hey now... That's no way to start some wonderful friendships. Her expression immediately deadpans. Alright. Let's get serious.]

Maybe you just need to listen a bit better. I don't talk unnecessarily. Everything said is important otherwise I wouldn't be saying it.

But since you asked... You need to boil the water. No matter where you find it or collect it. And as far as food goes it should always be recognizable. Fish are usually safe crabs not so much. Coconuts and plantains are good too. But be careful about berries and mushrooms that you find. And the boar technically should be fine too so long as it isn't sick. Regardless, you're in a different world so you need to start slow and work your way up to things.

When I get food and wine from other worlds I didn't just inhale it and hope for the best. [Except she definitely did.]

"Being alone can be lonely" is a stupid thing to say.

[He's not convinced, but he only remembers the gist of her long speech. Which is what it should have been boiled down to in the first place!!!]

I'm not an idiot, I know to look for dangerous foods and stuff. You made it sound like you shouldn't eat or drink things at all, and that makes no sense. You just need to be careful.

It is not. You can be alone but not be lonely. Some people prefer to be alone. But there are many who don't care for it. So it can be lonely but not always.

Goodness you're an uptight customer. There's a saying in my world that just goes "Don't drink the water". I know we're all from different worlds but you need to be a little bit more flexible... And I'm glad that you're aware that you need to be careful when it comes to eating and drinking strange things in different worlds but clearly not everyone knows that because I walked into a beach party with a bunch of children that were quite sick because they didn't know this.

Just because my information doesn't seem like news to you doesn't mean it's not important information to someone else. This is a public post so someone here might find it vital, just not you it seems.

[this is...so much... He was already feeling overwhelmed for various reasons, so the longer she continues, the louder a sort of staticky, stressed hum gets from his side of things. With the visual aid, she also gets to see how he's pressing his hands against his ears, even if that obviously won't do anything.]

It...can be important, and you're right about stuff, just don't talk so much. It's distracting and noisy.

[Don't talk so much? Well, let's not be unreasonable. But she does keep silent for a moment or two only because this boy seems to be under duress of some kind. This form of communication can prove strenuous.

Yuuko also knows it can be overwhelming to have someone pelt your brain with a constant bombardment of words many of which you might not care about. (Thanks Clow).]

It helps to take a deep breath and clear your mind. And try and relax. My apologies, I'll try and keep things more... concise. [She'll try.]

And by listened, he meant picked out the bits that were relevant to him and filtered out all the rest. That was what was the easiest way to do this. And well, she had said many things which registered on his radar.]

Well. I suppose if you want to put it like that.

I think it means we're capable of helping others. But to each their own. I'd like to think we're not in a Survivor like situation trying to outdo one another.

It's a pleasure to meet a world traveler though. Are you a traveler of your own making or did someone send you on your way?

"Well, with that you're assuming I have an interest in helping others. While before I arrived, I was blind not to by position, then and now I still lack any interest in it.

"And not so much traveler, more it is something I am capable of. I have only used that capacity a few times in the past,. I do have a world I have responsibilities in, after all. It would be negligent of me to abandon them." [Though apparently it's not negligent to try and destroy it, eh Josh?]

"I suppose that's true. Is there a reason for that stance? Are you someone who sees it as no benefit to yourself so why bother?

"I see. I imagine f I still had things to do back home I'd also like to return. But I have already played my part and done all I can... I imagine you've already tried hopping back? I find that a great many powers work, new ones too, but when it comes to skipping across dimensions I seem to be lacking my most well known ability."

"I suppose you could put it that way.

"And yes. I'm lacking my ability to leave as well. Alone with most of my own power. It's been a long time since I have been this... weak, I suppose. [Human. That is what he was going to say before he stopped himself. He hadn't been anything close to human. He could feel that way at times, rare moments when his mask slipped on the job and he wasn't the composer in that moment by someone else. This, this was different. It was having his position stolen from him by force, with no say in the matter and no explanation on how. It irked him to no end.]

"How curious...

I am not one to brag about the things I can and could do. But I was and am still a powerful witch. To have someone or something block my ability to slip to different worlds is a monumental feat.

I imagine you as well must be powerful. World hopping is no trivial thing. There are Gods that cannot even do it. I can't help but wonder what is out here in this world that is preventing us from leaving..."

I suppose it's only fair. If you do happen to be experienced in this field then I'd be grateful for any assistance or advice you'd be willing to give us. To be perfectly honest, I was quick to dismiss all of this as hogwash but as the day goes on, I can see I have much to learn.

[ And everything does come with a price. Nothing is for free. But surely he can sweeten the deal on his end by offering her something more valuable than debris.

[ That bit probably wasn't directed exactly at him but what does he care? Must set the record straight from the get-go. ]

It certainly doesn't hurt to know a little bit. At the very least it seems we're going to be here for a little while. And I figure we can sulk and wait to go home or prepare for what awaits us. [Because surely they were all brought here for a reason.]

Ah! And my apologies. I call everyone children, now that I think about it. Hundred year old wizards... grupy ninjas... actual children. I'll use more discretion in the future.

[She wouldn't have guessed at first glance this was a full "grown" adult though! Good thing she used the word broadly and not directly. People can get quite uppity about their size, especially the small ones.]

[ As they say, the shorter you are, the closer you are to hell. But he can't stay huffy for long. After all, she did apologize... and they do happen to be surrounded by children. ]

I can only imagine our being brought here was perhaps a prologue to a larger matter at hand. Though what use they have for such a myriad collection of individuals is beyond me.

[ There's a tap of his finger to the table in front of him as his brow furrows slightly. ]

...Though your assumption may be correct. There do seem to be quite a number of children about.

[Yeah. A lot of kids! She only had a few to look out for back home. The usual suspects. And then the traveling children. Oh and the vampire children. And the brothers who were not children but certainly acted like ones.

Now there is this whole mess of kids in a strange world and trying out magic for the first time. The reasonable parental side that sometimes pops up is quite concerned. The other half is ready to pull up a chair and watch them all play with their new found powers for the first time.

Duality of man or of witches in this case.]

I surmised as much. My task back home was finished. I had played my part and now I am here. I can only imagine there is more work to be done. I'm quite intrigued, of nothing else.

I just hope everyone can stay safe. Young ones with budding magic can be a hazard.

[ The weary or the wicked, at least. But more work indeed, but he can't help but wonder why he was brought here -- not when he was just about to witness a newfound resolve in his charges' determination. But he chooses not to ask about her task. It doesn't do to be nosy, after all.

For now, he takes a cue from the witch's words. Some of these kids are going to need some guidance, yes. ]

Hopefully no one has arrived with the ability to cause mass destruction. I'm sure it would be a handful, even for one as experienced as you.

Though if I may ask: all of us seem to have arrived with an ability of some sort. Is that true for you as well?
