[OPENING] mass visual telepathy log
[Genette has provided everyone a portion of mirror, which they're free to do whatever they want to with it BUT the idea is that they introduce themselves to the telepathy network with a video feed, showcasing their face. Otherwise, the coven might just get an endless stream of grass, sand or hut wall.
If you're willing to commit to the exercise, here is your intro log for doing so! Hold up the mirror piece, introduce yourself and receive a broadcast from your fellow mages.
Because this is an open post, tag around like you would a typical log community post!]

It's nice to meet you, too, Madoka. My name's John. But I do not think that last part is true though. About there being nothing interesting, I mean.
no subject
Well, I mean — I guess my magic is pretty interesting.
no subject
See? That's something. [There's a grin into the mirror and he's shifting a little. It's evident by looking at his surroundings that he's outside on the sand somewhere.] You arrived with new powers, too, right? What's your magic?
no subject
[but something about John's grin is rather contagious, and she settles, offering a smile of her own.]
I did. It's not what I'm used to back home, but I can heal people a bit now.
What about you?
no subject
A healer, huh? That...is very sweet. [And way more useful than his own powers? His power is fun and silly and it suits him just fine, but knowing what he knows now a healer is a good person to know just in case.] I can fuse things together now, which I could sort of do back home with a machine but now I don't need the machine. But it also is not what I'm used to back home. Those powers are missing.
no subject
[and she stops for a few seconds, trying to picture how fusing magic might work in her head. peanut butter chocolate? jam that is part of the toast instead of on the toast? wait why do all of the examples she came up with involve food.]
I bet that's really useful! What have you tried fusing so far?
no subject
I'll be okay, but I think the same should be said to you. It would be pretty bad if you got hurt while we were here. [Mostly because a.) a hurt healer seems counterproductive and b.) he would just like to make sure nobody gets hurt in general.] This isn't the first time we've come to a different planet, but this is the first time we have been without our powers since we got them. That's the part that still makes no sense. [But oh well! He's shifting from his place outside and the image in the mirror wobbles a bit as John makes himself comfortable to continue talking.] The first thing I fused was my canteen and some of the boar jerky I had leftover, and that did not turn out so great? But Dave, Rose and I used our powers together and created a lamp made out of a brain, a shell and a knitted flower so it smells like apples and lights up if you hit it twice.
[The lamp now lives in Rose Lalonde's hut.] I am still sort of experimenting with it all.
no subject
You've been to different planets before? And — [so many questions, Madoka almost short-circuits for a second there, unsure of which part John mentioned intrigues her more.]
... Dave and Rose are your friends? [and where did he get a brain?]
no subject
Yeah. To both of those. [He seems pretty pleased with that even if the brain was sort of gross.] None of us are sure how we got to this planet but I cannot complain. They have new powers, too. [There's a brief hum as he reviews what new powers his friends have.] Rose knits, so she has the power to knit magic or whatever into stuff she makes. And Dave can draw stuff and bring it to life. [And that was how they made a brain. Dave Strider is a menace.]
no subject
Those powers all sound really useful ... I guess [she hopes] that's how you got the brain?
How does the lamp work, though? Do you plug it in? [does it ... does it run on ideas? the brain gets an idea, the light bulb lights up ... that was a terrible joke i'm very sorry.]
no subject
[This is stupidity at its finest. It would make more sense for it to run on ideas tbh.] It wasn't a lot of light, but it definitely worked. I am not entirely sure of Rose's magical limitations but if anyone can figure out magic it's Rose. And Dave will figure out how to draw stuff the longer we are here. [The clear thing here is that John is very pleased and proud of his friends. His powers are sort of "whatever" for him, but combined with his friends? They can do awesome stuff.]
no subject
I get it. Your magic — it sort of brings everybody else's together, right? I think that's a really important power to have.
I'm glad your friends are here with you, John-san.
no subject
While what she says is true, it's not something he thought about. Not consciously, anyway.]
I guess so. I did not really think of it that way, but maybe that's true. It's just that we're used to doing everything together so it made sense? [There's another more subdued grin.] It has been a really long time since I've seen them. Either of them. So I'm glad, too.
[But it's important to stick together. Bring people together.] Are any of your friends here?
no subject
No, nobody I know from home is here — but that's all right, I'm sure they can hold down the fort while I'm gone. [though she's only largely all right with it right now because she's already had a good cry over it when she was alone in her hut.]
no subject
I'm sure they will. [He doesn't know Madoka's friends, but he's working under the idea that anyone she is friends with can't be bad.] And maybe they'll turn up here later? We all came here without warning, right? Anything is possible at this point. There are still people I'm hoping to see here, too.
[There's a bit of a pause before his face shifts from its serious mode to being more relaxed.] Until they show up, you can count on us for anything you need. I don't think my friends will mind. [And if they do John will probably argue anyway but. The Strilondes are good kids.] If you want, I mean.
no subject
Really? Thank you — I promise I'll do my best to help you all whenever you need! And, so will any of my friends if they happen to come here, too.
no subject
[John Egbert definitely ditched his friends earlier to quietly die from crab poisoning and instead started talking to people on the network. That's fine.]
no subject
no subject
Who knows? Maybe we can keep combining powers, too. [He's already brainstorming of items a healer might need, or things that people could want. That's just how things are.]
no subject
Wait ... does that mean you've been alone for three years?
no subject
No. Well, sort of? Dave and Rose were traveling with another small group of people for three years, and my sister and I were with someone else following a different path to the same place. We were unable to talk to them for that whole time. [It's. The most simplified version of what happened and instead of explaining he shrugs lightly.] But it definitely sucked either way.
no subject
Were you traveling on a different planet then?
no subject
[...sigh.] It's a little complicated, but we were traveling on the Yellow Yard while Dave and Rose were traveling on a meteor. There was no way to get in contact with them besides the very first letter we sent at the beginning.
no subject
Are ... are you guys superheroes?
no subject
It is a little more than that? We're sort of gods.
