Hello there.

This is Jay. If we haven't spoken yet, I've been with this "coven" more or less since its beginning, and I helped coordinate defense during the first Uvi raid. Feel free to ask me any questions you don't want to bother Genette or Brie with; a more informed group benefits us all, after all.

I'm talking to you all in interest of that, actually: a number of us have expressed that a comprehensive listing of everyone's abilities, particularly those granted us by Qri, would be useful to have. If you'll come talk to me about yours, either over telepathy or in person, that would be much appreciated. Genette should know about your Qri-granted power, if you don't.

I'll be in the house we're staying in for most of the day. Please do take care of yourselves, and be careful not to get shocked.

It seems like you're working really hard all the time.

[He gives her a thin smile.]

I've never seen the point in lying idle. This could be useful to us in the future.

It should make organizing explorations and fighting off attackers a lot easier wherever we go next! [Well, they're going back to the hub next, but after that...] Hopefully we don't have to fight off attackers next time, though.

[She's so cheerful about that prospect. It should be almost charming, but after the meeting, he can't help but see it as complacency.]

That's the idea. To have a better awareness of what resources are at our disposal.

I hope a lot of people fill it out. [She knows some people might not...] Since you've been helping out so much, I'm sure more people trust you than would trust other people with the information.

[His mouth does a funny twist at that; he's still not sure what he thinks about being a Trusted Individual, even if he did kind of set himself up that way. Even if it would be advantageous for him to be seen that way.]

I do hope we can come to trust one another, when it comes to our own and others' safety. A little bit, at least.

I think we can! We've proven we can do it, so there's evidence, right? [In someone else's mouth, that might sound like a snipe at Jay's more cynical worldview, but Moon says it very hopefully--"this is the sort of think you like, right"?] And we'll get better as we learn how to use our powers more and how to work together better.

[God, it's hard to stay mad at her when she's like this.]

New people are coming in and out all the time. But we'll do our best.

[If you're trusting enough you can just trust your way through everything, true story.] Right! If more new people show up they want to help out I'll let them know about your list so they can be on it, too.

[Speaking of helping out...] Oh! And I asked Genette about how she talks to Qri, and since it's just telepathy, I thought maybe I could try doing it, too. I don't know if she'll answer me, but I'm going to keep trying, and I'll let you know if I hear anything. That would be better for you than going through Genette, right?

[Moon, you try so hard. He's not ultimately sure going through her would be any better than going through Genette, but he manages a:]

Perhaps. [ . . . ] So anyone could theoretically speak to her, the same way she speaks to Genette?

Yes! You can try, too! [It can be a try to talk to Qri party.] Genette said she doesn't know if Qri will talk back, but it's worth trying. She did say we have to concentrate really hard, though, so I guess we have to think hard at her.

She didn't respond when Dirk tried it; we weren't sure if that was because she couldn't or wouldn't. If Genette says it should be possible, however, it's certainly worth keeping up the attempt.

Yeah! She also said that getting messages from her should hurt less as we get used to it and that Qri talks to her using words. [Which is good, because interpreting feelings pushed into your brain can be pretty tough. She looks at the list of peoples' powers.] Does anyone have the power to make our powers stronger? Maybe Geir's enlivening? [She's not sure how that works, but maybe he could at least give someone the ability to focus on telepathy for a longer period of time.]

Maybe. You could talk to him about trying.

[He sighs. He's never been one to avoid an issue.]

Moon.

[Moon nods, and then looks at Jay curiously.] Yes?

It really doesn't bother you that she's taken us from our worlds, and bound us like this?

[He puts a hand over his collarbone, where a turtleneck covers what would be the crystal they have now.]

[Moon echoes Jay's gesture, touching her own crystal.] It's not that it doesn't bother me. I miss my friends, and the Professor, and my mom... I don't know what's happened to Rotom...

But if I'm here, I want to help. If whole worlds are in danger if Qri dies--I have to do what I can.

We don't have any evidence that she's telling the truth.

We don't have evidence she's lying, either.

She brought us here against our will, without asking us, and expects us to work for her. Those aren't the actions of an honest person.

[He says it flatly, matter-of-factly.]

That's not evidence. Or maybe it's circumstantial evidence? [Moon is not a detective, but she'll expand on what she means here.] We don't know how she thinks or how she brings people here, really, so I could say something like--she knew she was dying and, because she knew how many worlds would die if she did, she did what she could to save them.

[He shakes his head.]

It's still something that you have to explain away. Why are you so eager to take her side?

Why do there have to be sides at all?

When someone kidnaps me from my home [Not that he wants to go home right now, but he's not about to mention that to Moon] and expects me to do her bidding, she's created sides.

[Well, she can't really say he's wrong to be angry.] I want everyone to be able to work together and understand each other better. If Qri doesn't understand how she made people mad or scared bringing them here, then I want to help her understand. If she doesn't care, that's different.
