I just wanted to let you know that 2B and I are doing renovations on that old house on the western side of the island. At the moment there's no water or electricity so it's probably not the most hospitable for humans...

But once it's in working order, this'll give us an outpost in this area.

Also we were discussing some hands-free lights for working in the dark. Devices like that would come in handy, right? Are there any other types of equipment you could use? Seems like during our downtime, that's something to work on. Maybe we can also establish what resources we've got at our disposal, too. We're a team and all, right?

If I need one, then... It feels good being useful. I'm not meant for combat, but I was built for things like maintenance and gathering information.

Yeah, that's a lot of what I do. I gather data on enemy formations, terrain, that sort of thing. Scanners are designed for it.

I'm a scout, too. A night scout, but my last job made me be an all the time scout and now I don't sleep.

I scout in all conditions too, but... I'd get pretty tired if I didn't rest.

I used to, but Qri's magic won't let me.

I'm not even sure I've got anything that constitutes magic, but maybe that's for the better. I wasn't designed with that sort of thing in mind.

Maybe you can use it being weird to your advantage somehow, though.

[That's...weird. Lalli had been sure of the same on the first day, stripped of his own magic and unable to produce a tangible effect on command. But he's heard this voice over telepathy before, even if he's mostly ignored it before now. It would be too long to have not discovered something, right...?]

Not that I've noticed. I mean, unless you count this thing embedded in my chassis, but that seems like the same thing everyone ended up with.

[He can't find any modifications in his systems either, and so he's left to conclude that perhaps what he is prevents such changes from being made to begin with. Considering that he wasn't developed to combat, much less wield, magic it does make a certain amount of sense.

[He can't decide if having no power is better or worse than having a power like his. Like he said, he could think of ways for it to be useful... He was an even more effective scout this way, even if he consumed more food resources than he would without it.]

It depends on the kind of technology involved, but in my case I guess I could also say my endoskeleton? It's pretty durable, so I'm really not too sure how they managed to get a ring made of a softer material stuck in me.

Not to mention removing it disables my motor functions, so it has to be a systemic fusion too.

An endoskeleton is an internal skeleton, as opposed to an exoskeleton like some bugs have, where it serves as a hard shell. Androids have endoskeletons just like humans do, you see.

Except for what they're made of anyhow.

Humans wear sunglasses, visors, and their own goggles, don't they?

They see through those, and 2B and me can see through these. It doesn't seem that different to me, except for how they look.
