Hey guys, can you hear me?
[YoRHa unit 9S, forever uncertain as to whether he's thinking at people properly]
I just wanted to let you know that 2B and I are doing renovations on that old house on the western side of the island. At the moment there's no water or electricity so it's probably not the most hospitable for humans...
But once it's in working order, this'll give us an outpost in this area.
Also we were discussing some hands-free lights for working in the dark. Devices like that would come in handy, right? Are there any other types of equipment you could use? Seems like during our downtime, that's something to work on. Maybe we can also establish what resources we've got at our disposal, too. We're a team and all, right?
[Now that they're not dealing with invading hostiles, it seems to him it's time to put his technical skills to work]
[ooc: Feel free to thread-hop/jack, let's get geared up]

[ jude smiles to himself. ]
You have a lot of great ideas here, and I agree that we all need to pool together. I'm going to go check out the library soon and see what I can dig up, if you're interested in hearing about it afterward?
no subject
[Not that he doesn't appreciate a good break]
There's a library? Bet your power will come in really handy then. I'd definitely like to hear what you figure out, I'm wondering if there's any records of what happened here.
[What with it being a floating island in the middle of nowhere]

It would likely help if we could establish an electrical grid instead of being totally reliant on batteries. I have the basic equipment necessary, but it will require a lot of planning and a decision about the best source of power.
no subject
I agree batteries are too finite. That sort of thing's long outdated where I'm from. Where sources are concerned...wasn't hydroelectric power a thing in the Old World? If there's a waterfall on the island we could make use of that.
no subject
Solar is also a possibility but requires more chemical precision than we can likely manage with what we have. Still, we can keep an eye out for anything like it on the next world. I'd prefer to avoid anything that destroys the very few resources we have here.

[He has...no idea what equipment he could use otherwise, of what the limits are on what's offered.]

Artillery is standard equipment for pods. What do rifles look like for you? Could you uh, think it at me? I could aim for a similar build.
[He's accustomed to tinkering with some pretty high-grade tech, and so he surmises this will be easy...from a mechanical perspective]
no subject
Like this. Under 4.5 kilograms would be best, I think? Too heavy would be bad. But it might break if it's too light. I don't know.
...I can think-field-strip it, if you want.

[He wouldn't get that the last part was a joke on her part considering she is used to hearing and feeling voices of her surroundings ever since she was born. It's very weird not to have those voices there.]
Oh, good to know, I didn't know we had an abandon house over there. Remind me to bring you a housewarming gift whenever I decide to come on over!
[All said pretty happily at the idea of the dolls having somewhere safe to live in. Hopefully. No matter how happy she sounds, her tone will change to one of confusion at the matter of suggestions and ideas for......whatever it is he is talking about.]
But, um, I don't really have any suggestions on....de-vice ideas. No clue what they are, but if you can somehow create hands-free light without burning ourselves, then that'd be great. I have very limited resources, but I do have supplies to make umbrellas though! It's been raining on and off since we've returned; may as well make some for most of us in this island. Can you help me figure out how many I should make? I have no clue the amount of people are here.

[Having lived in the Bunker, 9S isn't terribly familiar with the concept. There are various aspects of human culture and customs that elude androids, for all that they try to preserve and learn everything they can]
Oh, I mean things like machinery. Gadgets, that sort of thing? But the lights should be pretty easy. The lights shouldn't be a problem, since they're pretty standard for support units back home. It's just a matter of building them and making sure the parts I'm working with do what I expect, no problem.
How many umbrellas? I can give it a try, although Jay might know the numbers even better than me. Extras would probably be ideal if there's enough, too.

[For once Nike was glad to be given the chance to explain something to Nines when he is usually the one in charge of teaching her new things. Like about machinery and gadgets.
Which he was now explaining to her, even when she doesn't understand most of it, but she does get the gist of it. The Palai world had technology too, didn't it?]
If you need any help with getting parts or building more versions of them, let me know. I'll volunteer my manpower to help you!
[Give her a second to count her umbrellas again.]
Um, I have thirty or so already made. Half of them are for singles while another half are for a pair to use. I have another eight that are in the middle of being made. I'm waiting for the paper and glue to dry. Oh! I'm on the hunt for all types of fruits that are as big as an apple or orange. I'll need them to make a special coating for the umbrellas that'll help repel water and hardened its cover too. It may be useful to those that don't have something to defend themselves with and all.

[and in this comment, someone is very behind the technology curve. Geir can't help perk up at the mention of lights, though.]
no subject
Not torches but rather machinery. Something you could wear is what I'm thinking. You remember the lights the Palai made with those bones? I can do something like that, but with technology. Actually...magic's a bit of a weak point for a guy like me.
Wasn't built for that sort of thing, you know?

[his genuine enthusiasm comes through in his tone.]
We've spent the last couple of days cleaning our cave up, but it's still awfully dark around there at night. It'd be better for Vern if we had more than just a fire.

And I don't think I've met a Yuuko but I do know Haru. If that's what they're working on, I'll see what I can do.
