( ett • voice & video )
( At first there's not a video feed, just a very simple yet disgruntled question: )
Does anyone around here know how to knit? I feel like I have to be missing something.
( In an effort to illustrate the point, there's suddenly a telepathic video stream attached, showcasing what appears to be a muddled ball of yarn; someone may or may not have resorted to trying to rub or melt it together because knitting is obviously just some type of witchcraft.
Hands attempt to pull it apart to showcase the expert craftsmanship that went into this mess -- there's also the sound of rain, as well as a small voice in the background that keeps shouting FUCK! over and over again with varied levels of intensity. The culprit is a chubby Elto baby that's crawling around just out of sight, a thick stick grasped firmly in their hand. )
Lisko! No bad words! -- Regardless, I have a suspicion that the problem is more so with the type of...materials...since they don't want to stick together no matter what I do.
( Or Emil's just an idiot, which is only somewhat more likely. )

Mrn?
[He blinks up again, squinting like he's having trouble focusing, which...he is, thanks, but still.]
Which "this"? Depends.
[does it......]
no subject
I don't know...this? ( He was unspecific before because it's hard to put things like this into words when you're settling into a haze of drinking. Not that he could eloquently describe what he means sober, but that's Emil. )
With Lisko and everything. You seem more comfortable than usual. Unless you're just drunk. If it's the former, then that's a good thing! I'm happy for you.
no subject
...I don't know. I guess? They aren't as bad as I thought...and doing stuff with you is nice. [Still, he sighs.] I dunno, feels dumb. Saying this stuff? It's like being comfortable is uncomfortable, most of the time. Pfh, stupid...
no subject
( The only thing he can vaguely think of is when you sit in a nice chair for so long your butt starts to hurt; that's comfortable and uncomfortable.
Speaking of: here's a long-awaited appearance by that meat Lalli brought home. It's only just beginning to char, so Emil grabs a hold of their meat fork thing???? and flips it over, causing the fire to crackle and pop. Watch out, Lisko! They're suddenly reminded of the meat too and excited about a substantial dinner, standing closer to the splash zone than need be.
Let Em scoop you up while he's at it. You need more Day Dad time. )

It's not something I'm good at. Being comfortable. S'when I am, um... It feels wrong? Like there has to be something I missed. But right now, it's not like that. Just feel kind of wordy and dumb. And like my face is not my face. That's weird.
[ -- oh wait, he was saying something else.]
An' I'm wordy and dumb, so I don't wanna talk about being comfortable, because what if that's wrong? It's gonna go back to how it was... Like that time, with the fish, and before the lizard.
no subject
Oh, so you are drunk. ( There's no other reason to not be able to feel your face...well, it is a little chilly in here. Nowhere near Nordic cold, though.
Despite his slogging brain, Emil knows what Lalli's referring to. ) Maybe you feel comfortable because there's really nothing wrong going on. That's not stupid. The only dangerous thing is rain, and that's simple enough. ( The sounds of the large droplets make up part of the outside white noise as they hit the soft, wooden roof. ) I doubt it's anything like that time.
I like it when you talk a lot. It's nice to listen to.
no subject
Nice to -- pfft.
[That's...ridiculous... Thankfully his hands are already close to his mouth so no matter how clumsy his fingers are, he can spread them to give gappy coverage over his stupid smile. Felt way too unnatural to let it go completely free.]
Okay. You're the only one who ever does… Besides Lisko. Sometimes.
no subject
Lalli is also the subject of Emil's sloshy attention, though not because of what he said -- more so because of what he's currently doing. His face is thin, his fingers are thinner, which do very little to hide his grin.
Oh my god -- well, Emil doesn't believe in those things, but there's a distinct niggling in the back of his mind that there's some sort of...moreness in him somewhere. That's as sensical as his drunk brain can sound right now. )
You're smiling! ( Said like he's Newton discovering gravity. But a more pressing matter: ) What are you doing with your hands??
no subject
I'm not doing anything weird with them. [does some ooky spooky finger-wiggling at it with one hand to really drive the point home.] I'm allowed to smile into them, people do that.
no subject
Why? Move your hands! ( He's so close to just moving them for him!!! ) I want to see!
( Lisko is suddenly alert, not sure why Day Dad is suddenly excited. Their tail starts a-wapping back and forth, though her holder is too preoccupied and tipsy to be in much pain. )
no subject
no subject
That's not fair! ( Playfully shoving his hand on his face, Lalli saliva be damned. ) You made me miss it!
no subject
[Pleh! Weird hand taste, and he wasn't quick or in control enough to bite him for that. Alas.]
You didn't miss it, you knew I was doing it. Doesn' matter anyway, yours is better.
no subject
What? Do you really think that...? ( It's not that being praised is abnormal, and Emil knows that he isn't at all unattractive. But he didn't know his friend had any astute opinion on this outside of maybe his strange, factual way of making compliments matter so much more. )
no subject
Yes…? [Like, duh? Come on, Emil, you can't be that stupid.] I already told you... When I woke up, I wan'ned to see it. I don't understand how you can do it, but you smile... And then s'like there's light again. How do you do it?
no subject
I just smile? It's not hard. You just did it yourself. That's better, isn't it?
( Even if he didn't get to really see it all!! Sunshine people like Emil smile often over the stupidest, mundane things. People like Lalli; when they smile it's like a rare glimpse at something close to celestial. )
no subject
I don't mean that, I mean... [hecking heck words] Things are terrible! All the time, it's all really, really bad. And some nice things happen, but everything is still bad. And when you can think, how can just bring yourself to be so happy? It's the weirdest.
no subject
It's not like I'm happy all the time. It's just easier if you don't think about things that are too hard to think about. ( Easy is always better than hard. ) It doesn't feel good to just think about bad stuff. Even if things are horrible sometimes, good things are still...good things.
( These are Emil's 2nd grade level reading comprehension thoughts on the matter. Lisko appears to agree as their babbling gets louder and their words run together in long strings. )
no subject
That's... That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
[LIKE... THINGS ARE BAD, PRETEND IT'S NOT???]
I still don't know how you're alive.
no subject
It's not dumb! It just...is! You like when I'm happy, so you can't be too mad! ( If you want to see his smile so badly, appreciate his methods. ) Why do you think I'm so incapable all the time?
( He's not angry at all; Emil can't find it in himself to be that aggravated while also being drunk. Instead, it comes out more like a curiosity. They've broached the topic shallowly before...it's unlikely they'll get much further, both being inebriated. )
no subject
Nooo, just... [Well. Hmn. How to say it...] Like Lisko. They don't think about how dangerous stuff is or what words mean, or anything. If we weren't here, things would be really bad. I know things...were easy for you. Not like mine. But things still happen, and you're an adult person, not a lizzlard baby.
no subject
Emil just keeps sipping, intently watching Lalli like he's being taught something interesting. It doesn't really compute, though. Not fully. )
I...know stuff is dangerous? I know now. ( Which is true in some ways. Does he accept that some creepy crawly critters and spirits are true threats and real? No. Is he still an ill-equipped klutz in a lot of ways? Sure. But he's not totally inept. ) Do you really think of me like a baby?
no subject
I just said you were an adult person? I said people would kiss you.
no subject
But you think I'm like a baby. Lisko is a baby! ( Oh, they recognize that word. Back to very fast tail-wapping. The person holding them isn't as impressed, nor are they good at finding the words they want right now. ) You don't take me...serious. And kissing has nothing to do with it!
( Emil's not angry. He's huffy, bratty, then disappointed. Also he's running out of alcohol since he didn't get much to begin with, so maybe top him off. )
no subject
He doesn't take him "serious"... Yeah, that sounds about right, and watching Emil now, it's hard to feel any different... Still, it feels like some thinking is important for this, so he stalls with a long drink. Finally, he reaches out to set the bottle next to Emil and slides himself closer.]
I think you don't know enough. There's so much you don't understand. It's...good. Mnbut I wish you understood so you'd understand me instead of the others. I don't know. It's confusing.
